Dublin Wedding Photographer & Videographer
Relaxed, natural wedding photography and videography for couples who want to enjoy every minute of their day.
Hey, I’m Shannon! The face behind Violets Are Blue Weddings, a Dublin-based wedding photographer and videographer capturing love stories across Ireland.
My approach is all about real moments, genuine emotions and making sure you feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. Think documentary-style wedding photography with a little gentle direction when you need it, rather than hours of awkward posing.
Whether you’re planning a big Dublin wedding with all your favourite people, an intimate city-centre celebration or a registry office ceremony followed by a few pints, I’d love to hear what you have in mind!

Natural Wedding Photography in Dublin
Your wedding day is about celebrating with your favourite people, not spending hours away from them having your photograph taken.
I like to keep things relaxed and document the day as it naturally unfolds. The big moments, of course, but also all the little things happening in between. The nervous excitement before the ceremony, the hugs, the happy tears, the laughs and the questionable dance moves later in the evening.
I’ll blend in with your guests and capture those lovely, candid moments without interrupting them.
And when it comes to your couple portraits? Don’t worry if you’re not particularly comfortable in front of a camera. Most people aren’t!
I’ll give you a little gentle direction, find the good light and help you feel at ease. Nothing overly posed or awkward. Just beautiful photos that feel like you.
The goal is for you to look back at your wedding gallery and remember how the day felt, not just how it looked.
Dublin Wedding Videography
There’s something pretty special about being able to hear the speeches again, see the little moments you might have missed and watch your favourite people enjoying themselves.
My approach to wedding videography is very similar to my photography style: relaxed, unobtrusive and focused on telling the story of your day.
Rather than turning your wedding into a film production, I like to capture everything as naturally as possible. The atmosphere, the emotion and all those moments you’ll want to revisit for years to come.
Whether you’re looking for wedding photography or videography, you can expect the same easygoing experience and a cohesive style that feels true to you.
Dublin Wedding Venues & Favourite Photo Locations
One of the things I love about photographing weddings in Dublin is the variety of locations.
You can have an elegant hotel wedding, an intimate ceremony surrounded by art or a city-centre celebration where we head out for a little wander between the ceremony and drinks reception.
I’ve had the pleasure of capturing weddings at some gorgeous Dublin venues, including:
Medley, Dublin
City-centre weddings are always great fun, especially when we can head outside for some couple portraits.
At Medley, you’ve got the city on your doorstep, which means plenty of opportunities to capture a mix of photographs as we wander through Dublin. From interesting architecture to those spontaneous little moments along the way, there’s no shortage of inspiration.
And the best part? We don’t need to disappear for hours to get some gorgeous photos.
The Merrion Hotel
For couples planning an elegant Dublin wedding, The Merrion Hotel offers a beautiful setting for wedding photography.
It’s the kind of venue where we can make the most of the interiors as well as the surrounding area, creating a lovely mix of photographs while keeping everything feeling relaxed and natural.
The National Gallery of Ireland
If you love the idea of a wedding surrounded by art and beautiful interiors, the National Gallery of Ireland is a pretty special place to celebrate.
It’s a wonderful setting for photographs that feel personal and a little different from the traditional wedding venue.
The Leinster & The Dean
Dublin has some brilliant options for couples who want a stylish city wedding, and I’ve also photographed celebrations at The Leinster and The Dean.
Whether you want to keep your portraits close to the venue or venture out into the city for a few photos, we’ll work out a plan that suits your timeline and the feel of your day.
Wrights Anglers Rest
If you’re planning a celebration a little further from the city centre, I’ve also photographed weddings at Wrights Anglers Rest.
Wherever you’re getting married, we’ll chat about your plans beforehand and work out the best approach for your photographs, from the timing of your couple portraits to any family photos you’d love to capture.
Intimate Weddings, Micro Weddings & Registry Office Ceremonies in Dublin
Not every wedding needs to be a huge, all-day celebration. Sometimes it’s just the two of you, your closest people and a really lovely plan for the day.
I photograph full-day weddings, but I also love capturing micro weddings, elopements, registry office ceremonies and smaller celebrations across Dublin.
Whether you’re getting married at a registry office before heading into town, planning a relaxed restaurant reception or keeping things intimate with just a handful of guests, we can chat about the coverage you actually need.
If you’re planning a city-centre wedding, we can also look at fitting in some portraits along the way. No need to turn it into a big production!
Tell me what you’re thinking, and we’ll figure out a plan that works for you.
Meet Shannon, Your Dublin Wedding Photographer
Hello again! I’m Shannon, the photographer and videographer behind Violets Are Blue Weddings.
I’ve been working in freelance photography for over a decade, photographing everything from events to family occasions, before moving into weddings after getting married myself in 2024.
And having been on the other side of the camera, I know how important it is to have someone around who makes you feel comfortable.
On your wedding day, I’ll be there to capture everything as it happens, blending in with your guests and offering a little direction whenever it’s needed.
I’m very much a fly-on-the-wall kind of photographer, although I’ll happily step in to organise those all-important family photos or help you both relax during your couple portraits.
I’m based in Dublin and travel throughout Ireland for weddings, so whether you’re celebrating in the city or somewhere further afield, I’d love to hear from you.

Wedding Photography & Videography Packages in Dublin
Every wedding is different, so I offer coverage tailored to your plans.
Whether you’re looking for full-day wedding photography, videography or a shorter booking for an intimate ceremony, I’d be happy to chat through what you have in mind.
I generally work alone, but a second photographer or videographer can be added on request. If you’re both getting ready in different locations, for example, I’ll talk you through whether I’d recommend having someone else there to capture everything.
Not sure how much coverage you need? That’s completely fine, too!
Tell me a little about your wedding, your ideal coverage and your budget, and I’ll be happy to put together a personalised quote.
