What We Wish Every Couple Knew Before Their Wedding Day

As wedding photographers, we’ve had the honor of standing beside couples on one of the most memorable days of their lives. We’ve seen it all — the nervous giggles, the last-minute tie fixes, the chaotic moments, the magic ones, and everything in between.

But through all the excitement and champagne toasts, there are a few truths we’ve picked up that we wish every couple knew before the big day.

Here are some little pieces of wisdom we hope you’ll take with you on your wedding day.

1. The Day Flies — Seriously

You’ve heard this before, but it cannot be overstated: your wedding day goes by in a blur. You’ll blink and suddenly you’re being told it’s time for your first dance. This is why we encourage you to take small pauses throughout the day — a deep breath while getting ready, a quiet moment together post-ceremony, a slow scan of the room while everyone’s dancing. You’re allowed to soak it in, and you should.

2. Build in Buffer Time (Then Add 10 Minutes More)

No one wants to be rushed down the aisle with lipstick still drying. We always recommend adding buffer time between every major part of the day — from getting ready, to first look, to family photos. Things will take longer than you think, and that’s okay! Giving yourself that wiggle room makes space for spontaneity, nerves, bathroom breaks, or just a breather.

3. Your Vendors Are Your Team — Trust Them

You’ve likely spent months (maybe years!) choosing your vendors. Now it’s time to let go and trust them to do what they do best. We’ve got your back. Let us handle our part — your only job is to enjoy the ride.

4. Perfection Isn’t the Goal — Connection Is

The truth? Something might go “wrong.” A zipper might stick. The sky might drizzle. A speech might run long. But none of it will matter. What people will remember — what YOU will remember — is how it felt. That moment your partner saw you for the first time. The way your family laughed during dinner. Your best friend’s off-key karaoke performance. Lean into the beautifully imperfect.

5. Your Photo & Video Team Sees the Real Moments — Let Us Capture Them

We’re not just here for the staged smiles. Our favorite shots are often the in-betweens: the squeeze of your hand before walking down the aisle, the tears you wipe away when no one’s looking, the late-night barefoot dance floor chaos. You don’t have to pose for those. Just be yourselves. We’ve got it covered.

6. It’s Okay to Feel All the Feelings

Nervous. Euphoric. Overwhelmed. Peaceful. Silly. Teary. Hungry. All of it is normal. All of it is valid. Don’t feel pressure to be “on” or perfectly composed all day. You’re human. You’re in love. You’re doing a really big thing. We promise, the most beautiful moments come when you’re simply feeling what you’re feeling.

7. Take 5 Minutes — Just the Two of You

Steal a moment away from the crowd — whether it’s right after the ceremony, during cocktail hour, or before your grand entrance. It doesn’t have to be long. Just enough to say, “Hey. We did it.” You’ll remember that private pause forever — and we’ll quietly capture it from a distance if you’d like us to.

8. Your Wedding Film & Photos Will Mean More Over Time

The cake gets eaten. The flowers wilt. But the way your dad hugged you, or how your partner looked at you during your vows? That stays. In a year, in ten years, in fifty — these are the moments you’ll come back to. That’s why we do what we do, and why we pour our hearts into every frame.

One Last Thought

Your wedding doesn’t have to be a performance. It doesn’t need to be Pinterest-perfect. It just needs to feel like you. And when it does? That’s when the real magic happens — and we’ll be there, cameras in hand, cheering you on and catching every frame.
